So I thought I would share a few of my favorite "healthy" foods. Ones that I can eat over and over still love eating them. I kinda have to have a few "go to" things that I can whip up in a few minutes. Because when you have to eat 6 times a day sometimes you feel like you spend most of your time in the kitchen getting food together! At least I do.....I don't have a picture but my absolute favorite breakfast is bran flakes, 1% milk, half a banana, some sliced almonds and a little taste of honey! It's a good boost of carbs right before I work out.
One of my favorite lunches consists of one of those wonderful low carb wraps (which can be found on the bread aisle at Wal-Mart). It's a good substitute for bread. I put in a couple slices of thin sliced turkey, a slice of provolone cheese, mustard, tomatoes, spinach and pickles. Refreshing and filling and a great one when you are on the go - easy to make and the low carb wraps don't get soggy so often I'll make this ahead of time, wrap it in foil and take it with me if I know I'm going to be out and about around lunch time.
My absolute favorite meal replacement and protein bars. I've tried a lot of them and narrowed them down to about three or four I really like and enjoy that are under the sugar requirement (a good bar for me has less then 25g of sugar.). The first I usually eat as a replacement because it has 250 calories in it, the middle one is SO good and I almost feel like it's too good to be good for me - it's the Mojo Mountain Mix bar (190 calories, I think.) and I usually eat this with an orange or some low fat string cheese as an afternoon snack. And the last is THE best protein bar ever made - no joke. Most of them taste like a mixture of chalk and flavored play-doh. But not this one - it's the Luna Chocolate Peanut Butter protein bar. Oh, so good! I like to keep plenty of the bars on hand for days when I know I'll be out and about a lot. I have a small lunch box type cooler that I pack with pieces of fruit, bars and string cheese. It's good for me and Bug because it keeps up from wanting to buy or stop for other snacks when we get hungry. Having these with me keeps me on track! These are just a few "tips" I've learned along my way - going out unprepared leaves you open to cheat because it's convenient to grab something on the go. It takes just a few extra minutes to pack up a few "snackies" to help curb your appetite while you are out.
And on a totally different note - we were supposedly going to have snow and/or ice today but instead we woke up to gorgeous sunshine and not so bad temps.! I was rather pleased and after busting out a double work out (yes, TWO different Insanity work outs!) Bug and I went outside and spent a little time in the sunshine......
I brought a blanket out and laid it out in the yard, in the bright sunshine and did a little reading too - I've been attempting to read through this HUGE book by Stephen King called Under The Dome. I love SK's writings and have read a lot of his books. He is utterly brilliant. I have struggled with this one though, not because it's big, I don't have a problem reading big books. But this one has just been harder to get into at first. But today it really started picking up and I'm starting to kinda like it.....another thing that is hard is there are SO many characters to keep track of. I think it's the only SK book that contains a glossary of characters because there are so many!
The weekend is here for us - it's quite nice. I think it'll be pretty all weekend too. I have piano tomorrow. Still working on Bella's Lullaby.....Saturday night we are going out to celebrate Valentine's Day and I absolutely can not wait to spend the evening out with my oh, so wonderful hubby! I couldn't ask for a sweeter (or better looking!) V-Day date!
Love it Alaythea! You have a great writing style. Today was day 3 of a P90 workout Julie and I have started. Getting sore kinda.
